Digipak analysis. Chase and status - No More Idols.

I choose to analyse Chase and Status's album No More Idols as it in a way challenges it genre with it being electronic dance.

Front cover

By using bold colours it puts emphasis on the genre of music the album holds, electronic. The bright yellow connotes excitement linking to the upbeat excited vibe which as the audience we would expect from this particular genre of music. You could also suggest that the bright colours are used to highlight the huge base within this bands work as it creates a buzz for the audience with yellow being a bright, vibrant colour it reflects that.

The background creates a huge contrast with the text on the album cover due to the black and white. Chase and Status's are known for their crazy gigs where violence can occur, this perhaps is why they used a bulldog as the album background to reflect on this matter. I think the album is very unique and stands out which again, puts emphasis on the uniqueness of this band and their music.

Back cover

The black and yellow theme follows throughout to the back cover. As previously mentioned the colour scheme creates a sense of danger. This again fits to the electronic genre as the excited vibe can become violent when dancing. The back cover also intrigues its audience as it features huge names in music such as Plan B and Liam Bailey.

Inside the album

The inside of this particular digipak is seen as different in comparrison to others as No More Idols blantenly focuses on the power of advertisement. By using live photos of the bands performances at gigs it gives the audience an insight as to what seeing them live would be like. By being unique (such as their music) it creates a really effective and powerful promotion techinique  for them.

CD

And finally, the CD within this album is just another hightlight as to what i have already mention previously. The simple design suggests to the audience that this band want you to focus more on their music more than anything rather than them promotiing their identity which has taken over the music industry drastically over the recent years.
